Amin Bhatia's fascination with music and electronics won him international fame
in his youth. His success in the Roland International Synthesizer
competitions led to projects with David Foster, Steve Porcaro and
a solo album on Capitol Records Cinema label.
"The standard has been set" Steve Porcaro
Titled the "Interstellar Suite" the album is best described as a
soundtrack to an imaginary science fiction film. The realism and expression of
his sound won critical acclaim among those in both the electronic and classical
music genres. The album was re-released on CD in 2003.
"...rating right up there with Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita." Keyboard Magazine
Over the years Bhatia has moved into actual orchestral work with a sizable
profile of film and television scores. The IMAX film "Jane Goodall's Wild
Chimpanzees" features members of the Toronto Symphony and Opera
Orchestras with hit songs recorded in Africa by Johnny Clegg. The war
epic "Going Back" (GFT) was recorded by the Munich Symphony Orchestra
and the animated adventure "Rescue Heroes: The Movie" (Nelvana) features
players from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Other features include "John
Woo's Once A Thief" and "Iron Eagle II". Amin and Ari are currently working on a new series called "Flashpoint" which airs on CBS and CTV. In between his film and TV music assignments his long-awaited sequel to “The Interstellar Suite”, entitled "Virtuality" was released on May 23 2008 anniversary of Bob Moog's birthday.
"Amin's music is a breath of fresh air in the world of not just synthesized music,
but music as a whole." Oscar Peterson
In 2006 Amin and co-writer Ari Posner received an Emmy nomination for the
Disney animated series "Get Ed" and in 2005 Amin won two Gemini
awards for his music score work in television.
Amin Bhatia resides in Toronto and Los Angeles.
